group Expeditions
Group expeditions are for women who want to explore leading in a group, formed around a community either geographical or sectoral.
Group Expeditions are:
7 months long
Require 5 hours of exploring per month
For up to 24 explorers
Online
The expeditions follow a methodology, based on the 4Es, which emerged from the first expedition and have been perfected on expeditions ever since. The first of the Es is ‘Essence’: as an explorer, you establish what in your make-up influences how you lead. The second is ‘Elements’: you unpick how your Essence shows up in how you lead. The third is ‘Expression’: you work through how the first two Es shape your day-to-day leading. The fourth is ‘Energy’: you discover how the flow across their first three Es generates the energy of leading.
As part of their exploration on leading, every month, explorers speak to Guides. Guides are women who are thoughtful about leading, generous with their knowledge, and believe in Women Emerging. In addition to speaking to explorers, Guides will also write pieces about leading which will be published on the WE Hub, when it launches in April. Women Emerging has over 90 Guides from 25 countries, 13 sectors and are a wonderful mix from Boomers to GenZ.As the group expedition comes to an end, explorers reflect on their journey, capturing key insights to share with their community and on the WE Hub. Upon completing the expedition, explorers become WE Fellows, continuing their exploration and engagement within the WE Hub.

ThE fIRST EXPEDITION
In 2022, a diverse group of 24 women from around the world - spanning different geographies, generations, sectors, specialisms, backgrounds, beliefs, abilities and aspirations - embarked on an Expedition to discover ‘an approach to leadership that resonated with women.’
Led by Women Emerging Founder, Julia Middleton, they discovered that the quality of leadership and the act of leading are individual and personal. Though there are common elements, they are not common to all, and they are not done in the same ways. So rather than develop ‘an’ approach, they decided to invite women across the world to participate in their own expeditions to find their own approach to leading. They created a ‘map’ which outlines the four E’s and provides shape and structure for all future expeditions.
After the First Expedition Julia Middleton wrote the book: ‘If that’s leading, I’m in’, published in October 2023 which acts as an accessible and truly global expedition guide.
